H. Caitlin McLeod

Associate Professor of Practice

I’ve spent my career moving through just about every corner of the theater world—stage management, production, teaching, producing—and I love how each piece informs the others. I’m currently an Associate Professor of Practice at the University of Virginia, where I work with students on producing and arts administration while also managing and supporting mainstage productions. Before that, I worked professionally in New Orleans and New York, collaborating on everything from world premieres to large-scale festivals. Along the way, I’ve had the chance to teach, mentor, troubleshoot, and build systems that help creative work actually happen.
What keeps me excited is the collaborative nature of theater. I’m happiest in a room where ideas are being tested, shaped, and shared—whether that’s in a rehearsal hall, a classroom, or an international creative partnership. I’m especially drawn to projects that bring people together across disciplines and cultures, where the process is just as meaningful as the performance. At the end of the day, I’m someone who loves helping artists do their best work—and who believes deeply in the power of theater as a collective, joyful act.
