Anna Katherine Clay
Assistant Professor of Practice
As a freelance writer and an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Media Studies, I strive for my students to understand the power of storytelling across multimedia, and to learn how to be great reporters, writers, producers, audio storytellers, and more. I teach across these and other topics, often returning to critical questions and explorations, such as, 'how is storytelling carried out across mediums? Why does it matter? What makes great storytelling? Why do we crave great stories?' Before coming to UVA, I spent a decade as a writer, reporter and producer for ESPN, where I often explored these intersections. Now, it's my passion and joy to see students navigate these discussions and studies in UVA classrooms. I love for my students to critically examine the storytelling landscape across all mediums, analyzing the efficacy and power of those stories to enact meaningful change and impact.
