EGMT 1520: The U.S. Intelligence Community
This class introduces you to the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC), the eighteen agencies that comprise it, and how they collect and analyze data in support of federal decision makers. We will examine the limits of human perception, memory, and analysis, and how the IC uses structured analytical methods to diminish bias and challenge assumptions. Will this class prepare you for the next "Mission Impossible"? Probably not. But it will give you a better understanding of what the IC is and how its many parts work--and some of the various careers it can offer. More importantly, the class will also help you consciously think about how you think, and how you might deconstruct and analyze the arguments other people make.
